Benefits of Membership

Legislative Advocacy

The VCIA has offered more than two decades of effective legislative representation for Vermont's captive insurance industry. Continual modifications to Vermont's captive statute, allow captive insurance companies to operate with maximum productivity and efficiency.

VCIA gathers information from its membership, legislative committee and board of directors on an annual basis to ensure that proposed legislation meets the emerging needs of this dynamic industry.

VCIA has representation at the state and federal level in order to be informed of proposals and advocate for positions that enhance the position of captive insurance companies.

Education

Throughout the year, VCIA sponsors educational seminars to enlighten industry participants about the most current issues facing captive insurers.  Hundreds of individuals participate in these seminars, that are offered face-to-face and via audio conference, and receive CPE or CLE credits for attending.

The VCIA Annual Conference is the premier educational offering of the Association.  Attendees have access to 2 days of top notch seminars highlighting the basics to the more advanced elements of operating a captive insurance company.  CPE and CLE credits are available for each of these sessions.

The VCIA also takes great pride in founding the International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE). This organization, now a separate 501(c)(3) organization, provides the only comprehensive professional education for captive insurance professionals. Candidates who successfully complete the program receive the Associate in Captive Insurance (ACI) designation. In its first 18 months of operation, ICCIE attracted more than 100 students from 30 states and 6 countries.  For more information about ICCIE, go to www.iccie.org.

Networking

VCIA's annual conference is the largest captive insurance gathering in the world.  The golf tournament and three evening receptions enhance the educational component of the event and give members the time and opportunity engage in informal conversation.

In addition, VCIA hosts numerous regional events throughout the country to highlight Vermont's position in the captive industry.  Each of these regional events consists of a seminars which is preceded by a captive owners' luncheon and is followed by an elegant reception for all attendees.

At least twice a year, VCIA hosts events for the membership to celebrate the industry.  These mixers now occur during the winter and spring seasons.

VCIA's success is dependent on the participation of its members. The organization has six standing committees and more than 100 of our VCIA family participate in these efforts.
