The VCIA Annual Conference is one of the captive industry’s most well respected and popular events. Known for its high quality captive education and excellent networking opportunities, this signature event is in its 35th year running. For 2020, the event will be presented 100% virtually. Join us August 11 – 13th  in a unique 2D and 3D setting to learn, connect with others, earn professional education credits, visit dozens of exhibitors, hear from excellent keynote speakers, and more. VCIA Conference Chair Dawne Davenport
 
Dawne Davenport, a consulting actuary with Marsh Captive Solutions, has served on the Task Force for all conferences since 2003.  As the 2020 Conference Task Force Chair, she is honored to lead such a dedicated, talented, creative and fun-loving team for our 2020 event.  Dawne will be there to greet attendees at the start of the virtual conference and introduce the closing Hot Topics with Dave Provost Special Event.

Robert Hartwig is a Clinical Associate Professor of Finance and Co-Director of the Risk and Uncertainty Management Center of the University of South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business. He will provide keen insight on implications of the transitioning insurance market facing captives in the early 2020s. Robert will speak at VCIA's Virtual Conference, at the Opening Special Event.

Commissioner of Vermont's Department of Financial Regulation, Michael Pieciak will precede Dr. Hartwig’s remarks during Tuesday’s Special Event. Pieciak will address the major issues impacting the captive industry in Vermont, at the NAIC and beyond. Award winners are carefully chosen annually to recognize VCIA Members who have excelled in supporting the captive industry and made contributions to the overall vitality and general welfare of the industry and VCIA.

Sompo Global Risk Solutions was launched in 2016 to target global industry vertical solutions for large account risk management clients. Mr. Chang has built and led strong client focused underwriting operations, with a specialty in real estate and hospitality accounts as well as financial institutions. Join Dave Provost, Vermont’s Deputy Insurance Commissioner, and other highly experienced panelists, for an interactive discussion on current hot topics impacting the captive industry. In what is always a highly regarded session, we will examine current developments in captive regulation and key issues facing the industry, and highlight future initiatives, new opportunities, and using captives to address a hardening market. Moderated by Dan Reynolds, of Risk & Insurance Magazine, panelists and audience members will share their experience and insight ensuring that attendees are well-informed about current trends in the industry. Join us for this Special Event on Thursday which will tie together themes discovered during VCIA Virtual!

Dan Reynolds is the editor-in-chief of Risk & Insurance magazine, the leading domestic trade publication covering commercial property/casualty insurance.  He and his staff have won dozens of national and regional awards for their coverage of the industry.  Dan is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and lives outside of Philadelphia.
