Tuesday, August 8th, VCIA Conference Spouse / Guest Trip to Middlebury:
Spouses and guests of VCIA attendees are invited again this year to join a tour to Shelburne and Middlebury Vermont. We have a number of fun stops planned along the way on this visit to Middlebury, home of one of the top prestigious colleges in the country – Middlebury College. Your guide for the day is Greg Doremus of Vermont Guided Tours. Greg is a skilled guide and led the spouse and guest tour in 2016.
Here is the itinerary:
10am – Meet at the Sheraton Conference Center entrance. Greg will be there to pick you up. Drive to Middlebury, Vermont.
arrive in Middlebury and visit the Danforth Pewter store.
Thomas Danforth started this business in Middlebury in 1975.
His New England ancestors were some of the leading colonial pewter makers from 1755 to 1873.
Their early pewter can be found in the Smithsonian and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
They now have 4 retail stores as well as products in many gift shops throughout the US.
12:00 - 2pm – Explore Middlebury. We will do a quick driving tour of the Middlebury College campus and then have time for guests to do some individual exploring, shopping and lunch in the quaint downtown and river walk area.
2:30pm – Arrive at Dakin Farms. Another family business that offers wonderful maple syrup, cheeses, meats and many other specialty food and gift items. You can also learn how maple syrup is made!
3:30pm – Arrive at Shelburne Vineyard. This is a family run vineyard that has seen great local success. Guests will have a wine tasting and the opportunity to purchase some wine to take home.
