VCIA is the largest trade association for captives in the world. Our professional staff is engaged and aware of our members' needs. As the industry grows and changes, we adapt and adjust our focus accordingly so that we are always working in our members' best interests. VCIA was formed in 1985 when the Vermont domicile was young. We work closely with the State of Vermont's Captive Division and their expert staff to keep the industry growing, adapting and strong.

Becoming a VCIA Member allows you immediate access to the information that you need as a captive owner or service provider. You become part of a group that shares your business interests, questions, desire for industry information, access to key players in the industry, and much more.

Not only does VCIA provide captive education and connection, the association is also continuously hard at work behind the scenes on legislative affairs. VCIA has legislative representation on the federal level as well as the state level—our eyes and ears are on constant alert to ensure the continuation of a strong captive insurance industry. Your membership in VCIA keeps the industry strong, and keeps you continuously engaged and learning all about captives.

Join our association today. You will be in the great company of over 400 other organizations that are currently VCIA Members—working and learning together to advance all of your captive interests.

Please feel free to contact our Membership Director Angie Armour at 802.658.8242 ext 4 or aarmour@vcia.com with any questions.

 Legislative Advocacy

VCIA has provided over three decades of effective legislative representation for Vermont's captive industry. Continual modifications to Vermont's captive statute allow captive insurance companies to operate with maximum productivity and efficiency.

VCIA gathers information from its membership, legislative committee and Board of Directors to stay aware of what their key issues are.

VCIA has legislative representation at the both the state and federal levels in order to be informed and advocate for positions that enhance the captive industry. Each year in January, VCIA hosts Legislative Day at the Vermont State House in order to strengthen our connections.

   Education

Year-round, VCIA offers education to enlighten industry participants on the most current issues facing captive insurers. To see what webinar topic is next, click here.

  Networking

The VCIA Annual Conference is the largest captive insurance gathering in the world. Held each August in Burlington, Vermont, it is a great opportunity for meeting with nearly 1100 industry professionals.

VCIA hosts Captive Insurance Road Shows throughout the US to explain the basics and highlight Vermont's leadership position. The afternoon consists of an informational seminar presented by some of Vermont's regulatory staff as well as a captive owner or two. An elegant reception follows. VCIA also hosts Member Mixers in or near Burlington, Vermont.

VCIA's success is dependent on the participation of its members. Six committees, with over 100 member volunteers, help steer the activities of the association.
