VCIA Committees
Empowering members through leadership and collaboration

The backbone of our association
VCIA committees bring together diverse voices from across the captive insurance industry to shape strategy, strengthen member value, and advance Vermont’s leadership globally.
Each committee serves as a strategic advisory body to the VCIA Board and staff, ensuring our mission is carried out with insight, professionalism, and member‑driven impact.
The most rewarding part of serving as a member of the VCIA Conference Task Force is the relationships that I have been fortunate to develop with captive owners, service providers, and regulators. The annual conference is unique because it brings together insurance professionals from around the world here to Vermont to engage in best-in-class education and networking events. It is a privilege to work with friends and colleagues to make this event a possibility.

Committees
Advocacy Committee
The Advocacy Committee advances VCIA’s mission to protect and promote the captive insurance industry. Serving as a strategic advisory body, the committee provides guidance on legislative, regulatory, and public policy matters impacting Vermont’s captive sector. Through proactive issue identification and policy recommendations, the Advocacy Committee reinforces VCIA’s role as a credible, forward looking voice for the industry.

Conference Task Force
The Conference Task Force supports VCIA’s flagship annual conference—the largest captive insurance event in the United States. Task Force members advise on program design, speaker selection, and attendee experience, ensuring the event delivers world class education and networking. The committee helps VCIA innovate and maintain its reputation for hosting the industry’s premier gathering.

Emerging Leaders Committee
The Vermont Captive Insurance Emerging Leaders Committee (VCIEL) empowers the next generation of captive professionals. The committee provides opportunities for rising leaders to connect, learn, and contribute to VCIA’s mission. Through networking, professional development initiatives, and engaging students in captive career opportunities, VCIEL cultivates future industry leaders and ensures the continued vitality of Vermont’s captive community.

Finance Committee
The Finance Committee oversees VCIA’s financial affairs, advising the Board on fiscal strategies and policies to meet membership goals. Responsibilities include reviewing budgets, financial statements, and investment policies, while ensuring strong internal controls and compliance. The committee safeguards VCIA’s financial health and supports long term sustainability.

Learning & Professional Development Committee
The Learning & Professional Development Committee supports VCIA’s mission to foster lifelong learning and educational excellence. Members advise on programming for year round offerings, monitor trends in adult learning, and champion VCIA’s education pillars: Programs, Partnerships, and Purpose. Through these efforts, the committee cultivates a culture of continuous learning across the captive industry.

Member Engagement Committee
The Member Engagement Committee strengthens VCIA’s community by focusing on recruitment, retention, and member experience. Members assess engagement strategies, provide feedback on programs, and serve as ambassadors for new members and first time conference attendees. The committee ensures VCIA remains the leading voice and resource for a vibrant captive insurance membership.
